Merry Monday, everyone!
Well, neither game was very close yesterday, but the first one was sure fun to watch, in my opinion.
The Super Bowl is set, as the Falcons will square off against the Patriots. Go ahead and share which team you’re rooting for in the comments. I’d put a poll in here, but I still haven’t figured out how to do them in this new format. I really won’t have a horse in this race, although I’ll definitely have to cheer for Atlanta.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
The Vikings formally announced some coaching changes.
The Super Bowl matchup is set, Chris has the details for you.
Vikings news from other sources:
‘Tis the season for mock drafts, and here’s the latest 7-round Vikings draft from FoxSports.
From Vikings.com:
George Stewart led his team to a win as head coach of the West squad in the East-West Shrine Game. I hope he got a good look at some offensive linemen while he was there.
Eric Smith shares 5 things to know about the Vikings’ new RB coach, Kennedy Polamalu.
Here’s a video with the best of ‘Words With Teammates’ from the 2016 season.
Around the rest of the NFL:
From NFL.com, Chris Hogan(?) exploded for the Patriots in last night’s win over Pittsburgh.
After the game yesterday, Mike McCarthy said they ‘ran into a buzzsaw’, and A-a-ron Rodgers said the team needs to reload, not rebuild, all per NFL.com. I’ve never used the word “buzzsaw’, I always called it a circular saw or Skilsaw. I’m not sure where the name comes from, they are much louder than just a buzz. Just ask my neighbors.
From Yahoo Sports, it looks like Ryan Grigson may be out as GM of the Colts. I was surprised when the Colts signed extensions for both Pagano and Grigson prior to this season, it seemed obvious that they didn’t work well together. If it weren’t for Andrew Luck, that team would be very, very bad.
Other sports news of note:
After a good win against the Islanders on Thursday, the Wild couldn’t follow it up with another win yesterday, as they blew an early lead and they fell to Nashville 2-4.
We come to today’s media selection.
Seems like a good day for some AC/DC. Then again, every day is a good day for AC/DC.
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the blood sausage.
