The Vikings’ GM spoke with the satellite radio network at the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

NFL: Houston Texans at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

In a couple of weeks, the Minnesota Vikings will have to make a pretty significant decision about running back Adrian Peterson. They have until 5 February (the day of Super Bowl LI) to make their decision about whether or not to exercise Peterson’s $12 million base salary, and the consensus is that they’d have to be crazy to give him that sort of money.

In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio that was conducted in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, Vikings’ GM Rick Spielman addressed the upcoming issue with Peterson with our close, personal friend (™ Sid Hartman) Tom Pelissero. Spielman also briefly touched on the quarterback situation with Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater, as well as what the team needs to focus on this offseason as far as rebuilding/reloading the roster.

You can probably guess what position he said they need to focus on. . .and you’re probably right.

The excerpt of this interview is only about two and a half minutes long, but it’s still nice to hear the man in charge talk about the team, if only briefly.
