5 more days to the Super Bowl!

NFL: Pro Bowl Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Tuesday, everyone!

Well, the Super Bowl is approaching quickly. Hey, what’s everyone doing for Super Bowl? Cooking anything at home? I’m still debating what I’m going to put on the smoker, I’m thinking brisket but I’m still not sure. It’ll be something on the smoker, so it’ll be yummy regardless.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Eric shared a report that says George Stewart was hired as the Chargers special teams coordinator. Stewart had been the Vikings WR coach since back in the days of Chilly.

Everson Griffen had a big night at the Pro Bowl, per Chris.

Vikings news from other sources:

CBS Sports takes a look at the Vikings’ salary cap situation.

From Jon Clayton at ESPN, Fran Tarkenton deserves to be in the GOAT discussion.

From Vikings.com:

Wobby says parity and close games defined the NFL and the Vikings in 2016.

Some experts weighed in on why the Vikings will be better in 2017.

Around the rest of the NFL:

The Texans hired Wes Welker as a coaching assistant, per NFL.com.

Greg Hardy reportedly applied to play in the independent Spring League, per ESPN.

We come to today’s media selection.

I’ve really got nothing, so I’ll just play some SRV.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the pickled pigs feet.
