Ugh, the playoffs suck when we’re not playing

Happy Monday, DN faithful!

Well, it was tough for me to watch football this weekend, especially last night. I kinda expected all the games to turn out how they did, but I was hoping for at least ONE surprise. No, this season we should just learn to, in the immortal words of Ted Glover, embrace the suck.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Cordarrelle Patterson was voted the Vikings’ lone all-pro.

Mike Harris said he anticipates returning in 2017. Chris clarifies Harris’ contract status.

Wludford posted his year-end valuation part II: offensive line.

Chris shared the report that the Vikings are to make Pat Shurmur the permanent offensive coordinator. This is a good move, in my opinion.

Vikings news from other sources:

Mark Craig at the Star Tribune looks at the new reality awaiting Adrian Peterson.

From Vikings.com, PA & Wobby look ahead in Between the Lines: Offseason Preview.

Around the rest of the NFL:

CBS Sports has the updated playoff schedule.

From NFL.com, Jordy Nelson left the game early with a rib injury, and Big Ben is in a walking boot. Both injuries could have a big impact on next week’s games.

Other sports news of note:

The Wild dropped one to the Kings in overtime on Saturday.

We come to today’s media selection.

This one seems appropriate for today, this is our former head coach, Jerry Burns addressing the media......after a win. This is a favorite around here, & a lot of what Coach Burns says sums up my feeling about this season. Oh, and caution, NSFW language.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the blood sausage.
