When defensive end Everson Griffen was injured on the final play of the Minnesota Vikings’ victory in London over the Cleveland Browns, we were assured after the game. . .both by the team and by Griffen himself. . .that the injury was nothing serious.
Well, apparently it’s serious enough to keep Griffen out for a game even after a bye week.
As a part of today’s inactives, the Vikings announced that Griffen will not be playing today, and that veteran Brian Robison will be starting in Griffen’s spot.
Griffen has been on a tear to start the 2017 season, having registered a sack in each of the team’s first eight games and putting up a total of 10 sacks overall. He also leads the NFL in quarterback pressures with 45, and has been a force against the run as well.
Hopefully, Griffen will be good to go for next week’s game at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams. For today, however, he’ll be on the sidelines at FedEx Field watching rather than taking part.
Again, defensive end Everson Griffen is inactive for today’s game against the Washington Redskins.
