Did Mike Zimmer tip his hand about the Vikings’ starting quarterback?

He said he didn’t want to address it until he “talked to the team.”

At Winter Park, Minnesota Vikings’ head coach Mike Zimmer just finished up with his Monday press conference, and I’m certain that a more in-depth. . .ummm, “analysis”. . .will be coming later on. However, I want to cut directly to the chase and get to the subject that fans of this team want to know about.

First off, if you want to watch Zimmer’s press conference for yourself, here’s the video. Zimmer gets to the podium about three minutes in.

Towards the end of the press conference, the focus shifts to the quarterback situation. Now, Case Keenum had a very good game yesterday, leading the Vikings to 35 points in the first 35 minutes and throwing four touchdown passes, but everyone knows that Mike Zimmer is a big fan of Teddy Bridgewater, and has stated as much on numerous occasions. Given the team’s quarterback situation going forward, the team would also be wise to find out exactly what Bridgewater has to offer at some point.

However, when asked about the situation a little bit ago, Zimmer said that he was going to wait to make the announcement about his starter until Wednesday because he hadn’t talked to the team about it yet.

Maybe I’m reading way too deep into things with this, but it does beg the question. . .would Zimmer have to talk to the team if he was going to go with the guy that has already started seven games at quarterback for the Vikings this season?

I mean, I don’t know. . .I would think that the biggest reason for him to sit down and talk to the team about the situation would be because he’s ready to officially make the change to Bridgewater. Bridgewater has been back at practice with the team for a month now, and with the Vikings’ toughest stretch of the season coming up over the next few weeks, Zimmer might feel that Bridgewater can take this team farther than Keenum can, despite Keenum’s performance at FedEx Field.

So, we’ll put the question out there for everyone to debate: Who do you think starts at quarterback for the Vikings in Week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams at U.S. Bank Stadium?
