Merry Tuesday, everyone!
Hey, I’ll take a discussion over which QB should lead us to the playoffs over a discussion on whether we should be playing for a better draft pick. I’ve been saying it since last year (although one of the QBs has changed) that the problem of having two capable QBs to choose from isn’t a problem.
I also want to make sure there isn’t any misconception about my opinion on Keenum. Although I think Teddy should start, I like Keenum & I think he’s done a heck of a job coming in & doing what he’s done since replacing Bradford. I hope the team can somehow hang onto him after this season, even if he isn’t the starter. That being said, I think Teddy gives the team the consistency, intelligence, and ability the team will need in the playoffs in order to accomplish the goal they all want to accomplish.
First things first, though. Beat St. Louis the Rams, then take care of Detroit, and so on so they can get that NFC North title out of the pasture & where it belongs. Then fivefingers can get those cigars sent to me, yummy.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Wludford has a piece giving a little praise to Case Keenum.
Chris takes a look at the current NFC playoff picture, and the good guys are in position for a first-round bye.
There’s a new celebration-inspired shirt available at the Daily Norseman Store.
Eric looks at five game-changing plays from the Vikings-Redskins game.
Chris thinks Mike Zimmer may have tipped his hand about the team’s QB decision.
Ted & Di posted Roughing the Podcast 38: Teddy’s Back But Case Ain’t Leavin’.
Vikings news from other sources:
See Coach Zimmer’s press conference from yesterday, some NFLN speculation on the QB decision, and a lot more video to browse through in the Vikings.com Media Vault.
From the Strib, Matt Kalil has been charged with serving alcohol to a minor, even though he wasn’t even there. The under-aged patron was served at the pizza joint Matt owns, so he got charged (which is dumb). I suppose the judge figured he was never charged for facilitation of assault on the Vikings’ QBs in 4 years of serial offenses, so it’s like a make-up charge.
From Fox Sports, Colin Cowherd thinks the Vikings are for real despite a ‘lack of star power’. Ummmm, we may have the best CB, NT, and S in the NFL on our team, so I’m not sure what he means by lack of star power, but I seldom know what Cowherd is babbling about. He does have the “Vikings are for real” part right, though.
Around the rest of the league:
Ben Rothlisberger tore into the NFL’s Thursday Night Football, from CBS Sports. I’m not a big fan of Big Ben, but he hit the nail on the head with this one.
The Panthers devoured the Dolphins last night (if they didn’t want to get devoured, they should quit getting caught in those fishing nets), stats & highlights from ESPN.
BR looks at the civil war brewing among owners and Jerry Jones as he battles Hehr Goodell, and they wonder who fans should root for. I’m with Jones as far as ousting Goodell, notsomuch for the Ezekiel Elliot suspension, but because I don’t like Goodell.
We come to our media selection.
I have a feeling that it’s happening, let’s get ready. There a couple NSFW words in the horrible “music” playing on this video, don’t yell at me.
We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the blood sausage
