It’s the peak of the week. Hey, it’s the peak of the month, too!

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

I appreciate you all keeping the discussions civil, these issues can get heated at times, especially for die-hard purple-bleeders like ourselves. Also, a friendly welcome to some fans of other teams/sites that have stopped by lately. Keep stopping by, just try to remember to bring a crock pot or smoker recipe next time. Tips on getting a 3 year old down for a nap are also accepted.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared the story of Fox’s decision to have Greg Olsen in the booth Sunday, and the Vikings’ reaction.

Case Keenum has been nominated for the Fed Ex Air Player of the Week.

Saxyprince posted Climbing the Pocket: Episode 49 [Team Brief Case].

Ted’s back with your weekly Zim Tzu, and he’s on the warpath.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Episode 238: Learning Our Lesson.

Vikings news from other sources:

From the Pioneer Press, Jared Allen will be at the game on Sunday, and hopes to have a more lasting presence there someday.

From WCCO, Greg Olsen’s access on Sunday will be limited after Rick Spielman questioned Fox Network’s less-than-smart decision to put him in the booth this weekend. No knock on Olsen here, he’s a hell of a good guy.

Over at Vikings.com, David Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks break down the Vikings-Rams match up, David Morgan is on Vikings Karaoke, Adam Thielen talked with Rich Eisen on his show, and a whole lot more in the media vault.

Around the rest of the NFL:

The Sporting News has the latest NFL schedule changes, with a couple Saints games being flexed.

Panthers rookie WR Curtis Samuel is out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury, per NFL.com.

We come to today’s media selection.

If I made a list of my top 20 favorite singers of all-time, Waylon Jennings would be on it. If I made a list of my top 20 songs of all time, Luckenbach Texas would be on it. They don’t make ‘em anywhere near this good anymore folks, enjoy.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the blood sausage
