Vikings football is only two days away, feels like they just had a game a couple days ago. Weird.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Tuesday, everyone!

Hey, we’re in a short week here, Vikings football and LOTS OF FOOD awaits ua only two days from now. I really wish the NFL would eliminate these games with such a short recovery period, it sucks for all players and teams involved. I’d eliminate Thursday Night Football, and keep Thanksgiving football (only 2 games, though). It wouldn’t be hard to schedule byes & such around one day a year for the 4 teams involved.

I’ll be carrying on my annual tradition of putting a bacon wrapped turkey on the smoker, then I may be heading up on Friday to try to get my turdy point buck. Anyone else have anything special planned?

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared Coach Zimmer’s hilarious spot where he’s interviewed by one of his old players, Deion Sanders.

Eric highlights five game-changing plays from the Vikings-Rams game.

Brian Baldinger at NFLN breaks down the Vikings’ performance from this past Sunday.

Wludford looks at how to take care of the Lions & essentially shore up this year’s NFC North title (and help me claim my cigars, thanks fivefingers!).

Chris invites everyone to get on board the SKOL Train. I don’t think there’s free beer & cheerleaders like tiredviking had on the Ponder bandwagon, but it’ll still be fun.

Adam Thielen has put himself in some pretty select company with his performance so far this year, from Chris.

Not un-coincidentally, Thielen’s jersey sales have skyrocketed, per Skelly10.

Chris takes a look at the current NFC playoff picture, and the good guys are right up there and would have a first-round bye if the playoffs started today.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com, the NFLN looks at Zimmer’s handling of the QB situation (only one? He’s had quite a few since he got here), they also analyze how the Vikes shut down the potent Rams offense, and there’s a bunch more to look through in the media vault.

Around the rest of the NFL:

In case you missed it (as Blair Walsh did), the Seahawks came up short last night against the Falcons, from NFL.com.

ESPN is closing the book on the Legion of Boom. Can we close the book on the twelfth man and the stupid richter scale references, too? Thanks.

We come to our media selection.

Well, I didn’t make it up for opening weekend of deer hunting, but we all know that the second week of deer camp is the greatest time of year. Da’ Yoopers will tell you all about it.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese
