Everson and Tiffany Griffen welcome new baby boy on game day

And he’s, apparently, crowd-sourcing names

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

After collecting the first of his two sacks of Detroit Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford on Thursday afternoon, Minnesota Vikings’ defensive end Everson Griffen lifted his jersey to reveal a message that he had written on the t-shirt he was wearing underneath.

While it wasn’t immediately clear on television, the message on the shirt was “I just had a baby boy. What should we name him?”

Well, more accurately, Griffen’s wife Tiffany had a baby boy on Thursday morning, the couple’s third child. The Griffens weren’t expecting their new arrival to arrive quite this early, but Griffen got the message during pregame warmups that his wife had gone into labor. Through the miracle of technology, Griffen was able to watch the birth take place via FaceTime in the locker room.

The latest addition to the Griffen family. . .whose name, to this point, has not been announced. . .joins his two older brothers, Greyson and Ellis.

Congratulations to the Griffen family on the birth of their son, and it was pretty cool of Sack Daddy to pick up two more quarterback sacks to celebrate things.
