With the return of Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater coming in (presumably) the next 24 hours, the folks from Bleacher Report have given #5 a little bit of a tribute, combining the news of his return with a movie that I know is a favorite of many of our readers.

Yes, the cartoon depicts Bridgewater getting his release from Shawshank. . .er, from the hospital. . .in order to resume his NFL career. Complete with Morgan Freeman-esque voiceover, the cartoon shows how things have changed since Bridgewater was last on the field, allllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way back in January of 2016.
Now, unlike Red from The Shawshank Redemption, Teddy doesn’t wind up on a beach in Mexico with Andy Dufresne, but he does end up at a place that’s almost as wonderful, that being a bench outside of U.S. Bank Stadium.
One question I have. . .I’m not entirely sure who all the players are that are seeing Bridgewater off at the beginning. I see J.J. Watt, Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, and Odell Beckham, but I’m not sure who #15 is next to Beckham on the far left. It could be Jaguars’ receiver Allen Robinson, but that’s the wrong color uniform if that’s the case. Whoever it is doesn’t say anything, so I can’t identify him from that, either.
After further review, and having it pointed out by several commenters, the guy next to Beckham is his teammate, Brandon Marshall, who apparently had such an impact prior to his injury that I had completely forgotten that he was with the Giants now.
At any rate, enjoy the cartoon from Gridiron Heights for the return of Teddy Bridgewater.
