Merry Thorsday, DN faithful!
Hey, it’s my Friday today, which means yesterday was actually Thirsty Thorsday, which I neglected to celebrate, so I may have to visit Sickey’s for lunch today. Hey, we’re just a couple days away from Vikings football after a long break that took too long, and it may not be much longer than that until we see Teddy back under center for the purple & gold. Man, I don’t know that anything football related has ever made me happier than I’ll be when he’s leading the team again.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Tor66 has part I in Lessons From Tor, American Football in Europe.
Chris has your Week 10 Minnesota Vikings Power Ranking Roundup.
Ted shared the report that the Vikings have placed Sam Bradford on IR. Man, I hate to see that, Sam has been a class act here, and I’m very thankful for the effort he put in, and he did well in a very tough situation last year. All the best to him as he recovers from yet another knee injury.
skelly 10 says thank you to Sam Bradford.
From Ted, Zimmer said Keenum will be starting Sunday, and Bridgewater will dress. I didn’t know that was in question, there must have been some rumor that Teddy was a nudist or something. Oh well, I guess we know he’ll dress.
J-Dog does some research on the Redskins as we prepare for Sunday’s game.
Wludford reassessed the Vikings QB situation.
Chris shared some news we’ve been waiting to hear, and that some folks thought may never come; Teddy Bridgewater has been officially activated by the Vikings.
Vikings news from other sources:
At Vikings.com, hear about Bradford’s knee and the plan for Teddy straight from Coach Zimmer, there’s an interview with Keenum, some other interviews and lots more to sift through in the media vault.
Griffen was held out of the Vikings’ first practice after they came back from the bye week. I’m not going to say “oh no, here we go again”. Nope, not going to say it.
Fox Sports says the Vikings ‘witnessed a miracle’ in Bridgewater’s return. I’d say we witnessed the power of faith, but that’s just me.
Around the rest of the NFL:
The Packers have cut Martellus Bennett, per NFL.com. This is interesting, because the team cited a failure to disclose a medical condition designation in the release. Bennett just signed a three year deal prior to the season. Looks like they may be trying to go after some of the contract, which isn’t going to help a team that already signs very few free agents, and according to this 2014 poll, is one of the least desirable teams to play for. Keep doin’ what you’re doin’, Ted. That HOF QB tree will eventually quit producing fruit.
I’ve been waiting for something like this. Jerry Jones has threatened to sue the NFL if they give Goodell an extension, per ESPN. I’ve been waiting for owners to get tired of the inept commissioner. I’m starting to like Jerry Jones.
USA Today has their mid season NFL record predictions for all 32 teams.
We come to our media selection.
Hey, I’ve been rooting hard for Teddy. The kid’s got heart, he’s a good person, and I think he’s got a chance to be a great QB. It warms my heart to see him make it back on the roster, & I can’t wait to see him play again. Here’s another highlight video of his to watch, I can’t think of anything more appropriate for today. Sorry, MT_Viking, Alanis will have to wait for another day, no one here speaks Canadian anyway & I hate subtitles.
