Falcons rule Desmond Trufant OUT of Sunday’s game against Vikings

The cornerback is still dealing with the effects of a concussion

While many eyes on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be on the big head-to-head matchup between Atlanta Falcons’ wide receiver Julio Jones and Minnesota Vikings’ cornerback Xavier Rhodes, it appears that a similar matchup will not materialize on the other side of the ball.

Per numerous sources, the Falcons have ruled star cornerback Desmond Trufant out of Sunday’s game in Atlanta. Trufant is still dealing with the effects of a concussion and has not been cleared to play.

This is a pretty significant hit for the Atlanta defense to take. Trufant is one of the NFL’s best corners, and though it wasn’t known if he would be primarily matching up with Stefon Diggs or Adam Thielen, now neither of the Vikings’ top two receivers will have to deal with Trufant on Sunday.

We will have the entire injury report for both teams right here when they’re available, but this is a big enough revelation to merit its own story.
