Happy Christmas everyone!
Hey, we all got a bit of an early Christmas present from the purple & gold on Saturday, so it’s a post-win Christmas Monday! I had an absolute blast at CJs in Billings, a local Vikings bar, watching the game. Many thanks to one of our members, Montana’s Finest, for telling me about CJs, and for allowing me to hang out there & watch the game with him & his family. Good folks, good beer, and a GREAT game by our defense.
I don’t have time to review the game right now, and I may just wait for tomorrow’s thread to do it since I don’t expect much traffic today. The links will be fairly brief as well. Ya’ll have a wonderful Christmas, I hope you have a great day with your families. Don’t forget to think about the troops out there who aren’t able to be home with their families, our armed forces members who are overseas, and also those who serve and protect us here at home, a trillion thanks for all you do for us!
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Chris has your post-game wrap up.
The Vikings defense posted its first shutout in a long time, per Chris. It couldn’t have happened at a better place.
Nick Easton’s injury turned out to be very bad, and he will be out for the remainder of the 2017 season. That stinks for the young lineman, I hope he comes back strong.
Ted posted the Stock Market Report: Packers.
Chris looks at why knowing the rules is sort of a big deal (luckily for “chosen ones” like the Packers, it’s not a big deal, Hehr Goodell can decide to ignore the rules when he wants).
Kevin McDermott dislocated his left shoulder in Saturday’s game. I wonder if Jared Allen feels like coming out of retirement for a few games? I’m not far from Idaho, I’d be happy to give him a ride if he can be packed up by tomorrow morning.
The NFL has finalized the week 17 schedule.
Eric looks at five game-changing plays from the Vikings-Packers game.
Other news from around the NFL:
Here’s a link to the media vault on Vikings.com. There’s lots of great stuff to look through here, and I’d love to highlight a few, but I have an excited child ready to attack more presents.
From ESPN, the Mike Zimmer foundation is doing some awesome things for some awesome kids today. This is one of the foundations to which I’m proud to donate, and another reason I love Mike Zimmer.
Here are all the scores from week 16, as well as highlights, from ESPN.
We come to today’s media selection.
Here’s my favorite Christmas song of all time, from one of my favorite current singers. It’s Robert Earl Keen with Merry Christmas from the Family. Merry Christmas, y’all!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese.
