As we know, the Minnesota Vikings will not be playing on Wild Card Weekend, but the National Football League has announced the matchups that will take place next Saturday and Sunday, and we could know who the Vikings will be facing as early as Saturday night.
Here are the scheduled matchups.
Saturday, 6 January
AFC Wild Card: #5 Tennessee Titans at #4 Kansas City Chiefs - 3:35 PM Central time (ESPN/ABC)
NFC Wild Card: #6 Atlanta Falcons at #3 Los Angeles Rams - 7:15 PM Central time (NBC)
Sunday, 7 January
AFC Wild Card: #6 Buffalo Bills at #3 Jacksonville Jaguars - 12:00 PM Central time (CBS)
NFC Wild Card: #5 Carolina Panthers at #4 New Orleans Saints - 3:40 PM Central time (FOX)
The Vikings will play the highest remaining seed left in the NFC after Wild Card Weekend, which means they will play either the Rams, the Saints, or the Panthers. They can’t play the Falcons in the Divisional Round, because if the Falcons win they will automatically be the lowest remaining seed and have a date with the Philadelphia Eagles.
If the Rams should beat the Falcons on Saturday, then we’ll know who the Vikings opponent is. They would host the Rams at U.S. Bank Stadium. If the Falcons win, then the Vikings will host the winner of the Panthers/Saints game.
The league has not yet released the schedule for the Divisional Round, so we do not yet know when the Vikings will play. It could still be on Saturday, 13 January or Sunday, 14 January. Once the league lets everyone know, we will pass the news on to all of you.
