Why Do You Love The Minnesota Vikings?

On this Valentine’s Day, we ask a question that we’ve asked several times before.

On this Valentine’s Day. . .and thanks to Eric for absolutely killing it with the Vikings-themed valentines earlier in the day. . .we come to a question that we’ve asked several times here in the past.

Why, exactly, do you love the Minnesota Vikings?

I, like a lot of you out there, was born into this whole thing. From actually being born on a Vikings’ game day (the Vikings beat the Detroit Lions 10-9 at the Silverdome that afternoon) to being surrounded by Vikings fans for most of my formative years, the Vikings were a huge part of my life growing up. Both of my grandfathers (both of whom I lost at an early age) were Vikings fans, my parents are both Vikings fans, and here I am today. . .still hopeful that this team will actually get to the big prize before I die.

Some of you out there have actually gotten to see the Vikings participate in the Super Bowl. The last time this team made the trip to play in the big game, I was a shade over three months old. . .and, quite frankly, I’m surprised that I didn’t have bad dreams about Willie Brown returning that interception (you know the one) even at that young an age.

So, my love/hate (though, admittedly, mostly love) relationship with the Vikings was formed at a very early age and has just continued with me throughout the years. I know not everyone is in the same boat, though. Heck, some of you may have even been fans of. . .gasp. . .OTHER NFL teams before you made the switch to the purple. Not exactly sure why you would have done that, but we’re happy to have you anyway.

With that, tell us about why you love Minnesota Vikings football!
