It’s Thorsday, and another Friday is just around the corner

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Merry Thirsty Thorsday, everyone!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris shared a report that says the Vikings are interested in Latavius Murray.

Chris also shared a PFF piece that listed Eric Kendricks as one of the NFL’s most improved second-year players. I’m guessing Clemmings didn’t make that list.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Episode 175: The Million-Dollar Island.

Chris reminded us that the Daily Norseman is on Minnesota Sports Weekly today.

The NFL has officially set the salary cap, and the Vikes have nearly $40 million available (for now), per Chris.

Vikings news from elsewhere:

From the Strib, Rick Spielman said he had a very productive conversation with AD, and he’s keeping options open.

Matt Vensel also thinks the boost in the salary cap may prompt the Vikings to be more aggressive in free agency.

From ESPN, they say Rick wants Peterson to return. The part of me that likes to see chaos would really like to see that happen, just to watch the fireworks.

From Vikings.com:

Rick Spielman addressed the media yesterday.

Wobby recapped day one of the combine.

In his notebook, Eric Smith says the team could bolster the O line through free agency or the draft. I would add trade as another option, but no one asked me.

Around the rest of the NFL:

ESPN looks at the winners and losers of the NFL franchise tag deadline.

Adam Schefter has all of the free agency news and notes.

From NFL.com, the Eagles are taking a look at Jamaal Charles.

We come to today’s media selection.

Someone told me about these guys, I’m not sure who it was but I wrote it down, so here you go, Cross Canadian Ragweed. Really good stuff.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the hog maws.
