The news broke yesterday that Minnesota Vikings’ linebacker Chad Greenway would be announcing his retirement today, and we have the press conference for it right here for you, courtesy of the Minnesota Vikings’ FaceBook page.
Greenway, as Rick Spielman pointed out during his introduction, was the first player that was drafted by the Vikings under the regime of Zygi Wilf back in 2006. He’s spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with the Vikings, which is a rarity in today’s NFL. Spielman also said that he would be a “part of the Vikings’ organization going forward.” Whether that means he’s going to eventually be a coach for the team or a part of the front office (a la Scott Studwell) is unknown at this point, though neither would be surprising.
So, enjoy this retirement press conference, and if you don’t get the chance to see it live, the FaceBook post from the Vikings’ website will have the whole thing archived for you to watch later.
Thanks again, Chad!
