Vikings Mock 04.22.17

Portland State v Washington Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images

The NFL draft is 5 days away and it appears that the Vikings will not make any further moves in free agency prior to the draft. I think a Nick Mangold or Austin Pasztor would be nice additions but maybe the young players on the Vikings are a lot closer to being dependable than any of us realize.

Right now, spotrac has the Vikings with 10.611 mil cap space after accommodating for the top 51 plus rookie pool.

This mock is going to be aggressive and I expect not very popular. But I like to think about different ideas.

I think the signing of Keenum has provided more options at the QB position. I also think Teddy is progressing better than any of us know. It could be that he will return at some point during the season. If not, they still have Keenum and might keep Heinicke.

If they want to keep Bradford then an extension or the use of the franchise tag is going to happen. That means Teddy is likely gone after next year. I cannot see him willing to sign an extension with Bradford solidified as the starter.

If Teddy returns and they just let Bradford walk then I have already stated many times that would mean the trade did not produce the desired results and the cost would not be justifiable.

So, in this plan, the Vikings pull a stunning move.

Heading into the draft the Vikings now have the #48, 79, 86, 121, 129, 160, 199, & 232 picks.

Here you go.

Highly doubtful that the Raiders would NOT select Allen themselves if for some strange reason he was there!

Obviously these are crazy but I think there are some players that are worth using the 2018 1st round pick. I look at it as just pushing the cost of Bradford out one year.

Be glad I am not running things or thing would burn here!

I think the next iterations are going to be a bit more crazy!
