We’re inching ever closer to draft day....

Steve Jordan

Merry Tuesday, everyone!

The draft is fast approaching, and even though we don’t have a first round pick, it’s still an exciting time as the team prepares to

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris resets the Vikings depth chart at the defensive end position, and he also took a look at potential defensive end targets in this year’s draft.

Ted was on the radio with the folks at KBGG-AM in Des Moines to talk about the Vikings.

Chris shared the report that Adrian Peterson is nearing a deal with The Saints. I just threw up a little bit. I love AD & what he did while he was here, and I wish him all the best (except for week one, of course). I just wish he would have landed with a different team.

Vikings news from other sources:

From 1500ESPN, Jon Gruden lists QB Josh Dobbs out of Tennessee as his ‘sleeper pick’, Dobbs is likely going off the board on day 3.

From ESPN, Jake Long announced his retirement yesterday after 9 good, but injury-riddled years in the NFL after being picked first overall in the 2008 draft. You’ll likely remember the Vikings signed Long off the street last year during our O line injurypalooza, and provided us with competent, stable play at the LT position (something we haven’t had much of since 2012) until suffering a torn Achilles in November. All the best to him in retirement, he seems like one of the good guys.

From Vikings.com:

Eric Smith has 10 takes on the defensive tackles in this year’s draft, he also has 10 takes on centers. Both are positions of need for our team at the moment.

The Vikings-Bears matchup drew the most Twitter chatter after the 2017 NFL schedule release.

Around the rest of the NFL:

NFL.com has all the latest draft buzz from around the league. Draft buzz sounds like something you catch after drinking a couple glasses of beer, doesn’t it?

At The MMQB at SI, Peter King wonders what Cleveland will do with the first pick. Whatever they do, it’s likely to turn out bad for all involved.

We come to today’s media selection.

I’m not a fan of the new country music, but there are some I like, and this is one of them.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
