Thursday Open Thread: April 27, 2017 (Draft Day!)

Well, we made it, draft day is finally upon us.

Rich Gannon

Happy draft day, everyone!

Tonight will be fun, even though at this point, we don’t have a pick. I’m still glad we got Bradford, even though we gave up our day one pick. The thought of watching an entire season with Shaun Hill under center makes my liver itch.

You never know what Rick & Co. have in mind, especially during the draft, but I highly doubt we trade up into the first. Anything’s possible though. It’ll still be fun to watch, and it gave me an excuse to take tomorrow off, so today’s my Friday, not to rub it in or anything.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Okay so-called “experts” (glances at fivefingers), if you think you can out-draft Rick, join the competition here & see how you do.

Supa posted one final mock draft for the year.

Chris shared the report that the Vikings are not picking up Teddy Bridgewater’s fifth-year option. Chris also brings up an important point on Teddy’s option.

Wludford makes some Vikings draft predictions.

MarkSP18 posted his Vikings Mock Draft 04.26.17.

Ted was on the radio AGAIN, this time in Rapid City, SD.

Chris was on the At Odds Podcast talking about the Vikings.

Ted took a look at the cost of moving up in round 2.

Vikings news from other sources:

John Shipley at TwinCities.com says the Vikings’ decision on Joe Mixon is an easy one.

From Vikings.com:

Kyle Rudolph shares the thought that draft position doesn’t always equal production, from Lindsey Young.

The 2017 ‘March of the Living’ honored Joseph Wilf’s memory on Monday for Holocaust Remembrance Day, per Lindsey Young.

Eric Smith has 10 takes on cornerbacks in the 2017 draft.

Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah talk about a ‘perfect pair’ of picks for the Vikings in the draft.

Around the rest of the league:

From NFL.com, the Seahawks and Raiders have agreed to a trade for Marshawn Lynch’s rights.

CBS Sports has all the info you need about the draft, schedule, times, where to watch, etc.

From the Sporting News, Joe Thomas says he’s already dealing with memory loss.

We come to today’s media selection.

Lots of suggestions for today’s music, I went with Southpark Skolman’s suggestion, this is pretty good stuff. Enjoy!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
