It’s the Vikings’ opening day of draft day!

Vikings V Bengals

Happy Friday, everyone!

Good morning everyone, I’m tending my smoker & getting ready to go fishing (if brother-in-law ever gets out of bed), and eagerly anticipating tonight’s draft. The brisket looks absolutely amazing, I can’t wait. This will be somewhat brief, I have a lot of things going on this morning & didn’t know I was posting the thread (although I should have known).

Wow, did teams pay a ton to move up for QBs last night. I was shocked, given that none of them were the type of prospect worth reaching for, in my opinion. It makes me even more glad we made the move for Sam Bradford, I think that move will wind up looking like a stroke of genius.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Eric got out the stone tablet and posted The Ten Draft Commandments.

John Randle (love that dude) and Madieu Williams are to announce the Vikings draft picks tonight.

Chris looks at the best players remaining after round one of the draft.

Ted takes a look ahead to day 2 (today!).

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com, Craig Peters looks at the trends in first round picks, Eric Smith recapped the Vikings’ 2017 oppenents’ picks in the first round, Lindsey Young has the NFC North round one draft roundup. It also looks like Rick Spielman & Co. are placing a heavier weight on analytics this year.

At the Strib, Matt Vensel wonders if the Vikings will move up to a better position to fill a need. Looking at how round one played out, I was wondering that myself.

Around the rest of the league:

NFL.com has the winners and losers from round one.

We come to today’s media selection.

Man, I’m stoked for tonight. Are you ready?

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the tiger meat.
