After making a bunch of trades during the 2017 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings found themselves with just one selection in the sixth round. So, they decided to make another trade, moving back two spots in a deal with the Washington Redskins, and then picked up a potential big weapon at the tight end position.

With the 201st overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected tight end Bucky Hodges out of Virginia Tech University.

We’ll get this out of the way now. . .if you’re looking for a blocker at tight end, Bucky Hodges is not your guy. However, he’s got an outstanding combination of height, weight, and speed. He’s a converted quarterback, and should immediately have the ability to be a red zone threat for the Vikings with his athletic ability. Hodges was projected as a potential second-day talent that the purple managed to snag in the sixth round.

The Vikings are next slated to pick in Round 7, where they currently have four picks.

Welcome to Minnesota, Bucky Hodges!
