It’s finally Friday!

Jake Reed

Happy happy Friday, everyone!

We can finally made it to the day we can sit for a few hours, pretend to work, and plan our fishing strategy for the weekend. So far, I think I’ll do an overnighter in the kayak tonight, get in some late night/early morning fishing to kick off the weekend before the wind starts tomorrow. Saturday will be crappy because of the wind, but I’m guessing we’ll get kiddo out for a while to do some fishing. We have our anniversary Sunday, so we’ll probably work in the yard, so I gotta get the line wet early in the weekend if I expect any production.

Hey, if you’re jonesing for some football and happen to be in the Fargo area, the Fargo Invaders are taking on the Minneapolis Warriors in Fargo tomorrow night (Saturday night) at 6:00 at Sid Cichy Stadium in Fargo. Our own Admiral Biggun and his delicious tailgatemaster website are sponsoring the team!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

From Chris, Bucky Brooks has two Vikings on his all-rookie team. Not bad for a team without a first round pick.

The Vikings are anticipating discipline for Michael Floyd, per Chris.

Chris updated some of the DN resources for you.

Vikings news from other sources:

CBS Sports has their win total over/under picks for the NFC North.

Former Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong won’t be joining the Vikings, per the Pioneer Press.

From Vikings.com, the Vikings celebrate the steel topping off at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center. I’m just gonna call this the Vikings practice facility from now on, you shouldn’t need 4 pages just to name a friggin’ building. Sheesh.

Also from Vikings.com, Eric Smith gives you 5 things to know about Michael Floyd.

News from around the rest of the NFL:

NFL.com has a transactions roundup, it looks like the Bears released Eddie Royal.

From Fox Sports, the NFL owners want to see the Vegas stadium lease at their May meetings.

Other sports news of note:

The Twins barely hung on to an early lead, the bullpen saved the day as Sano continues to tear it up at the plate, Twins over the bad guys 7-6.

We come to today’s media selection.

Okay, I was trying to think of Friday songs, & I thought of......Steely Dan!

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese.
