Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Hey, it’s another slow NFL news day, so we’ll have to attack other important, deep subjects, like grilling.....and smoker recipes.....and stuff. I may be somewhat scarce again today as work is intruding, so please shoot me an email if the train runs off the tracks, or if fivefingers gets into the Franzia & eats one of the goldfish.......again.
Around the DN since our last open thread:
Matt Asiata signed with the Lions, per Chris.
Eric updated us on the latest free agent signings, the Vikings have inked three more players to contracts.
The Daily Norseman has three new writers!
Wludford has a Vikings offensive line update for you.
The Vikings signed former Nebraska QB Tommy Armstrong.
Chris has a fun project planned, and it’s coming soon! Today, actually.
Vikings news from other sources:
From Vikings.com, the Vikings signed 5 of their draft picks. Apparently, the problem the NFLPA had has magically disappeared, or has not-so-magically disappeared. Whichever. Who knows? Heck, who cares? Do you? Me either. Good, let’s move on.
Eric Smith has 3 observations from OTAs, and he also looks at how the defensive continuity will help.
Around the rest of the league:
The NFL has a long way to go to make their mark internationally, per ESPN.
SI.com has a cool story about the life and death of Pat Tillman.
We come to today’s media selection.
Here’s one from the great Greg Allman, who passed away on Saturday. He was one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers, and is a legend in music circles. His is some of the best music you can find, and here’s a cool little tribute I found on youtube. Enjoy!
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the blood sausage.
