After a little bit of turbulence during the process, the Minnesota Vikings have finally signed all eleven members of their draft class of 2017.
The final piece fell into place on Wednesday, when running back Dalvin Cook signed his contract.
Cook, who the Vikings took with their first selection in this year’s draft (#41 overall), was one of the highest-rated players in this year’s draft class, and by some pundits thought to be the best running back available in this year’s draft. He figures to see a pretty heavy workload right away, as he’s a three-down running back with the ability to catch passes out of the backfield and the speed to be a true difference-maker in Minnesota’s offense.
Nobody knows yet for sure how Cook will divide the snaps with incumbent Jerick McKinnon and newly-signed Latavius Murray, but with Murray currently recovering from ankle surgery, he’s going to have some extra opportunities to impress during the Vikings’ Organized Team Activities and mini-camps.
The NFLPA reportedly had some issues with some of the language in the contracts that the Vikings were offering their rookie class. However, with the rookie class now completely signed, that’s obviously a thing of the past.
Congratulations to Dalvin Cook and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings’ 2017 draft class!
