Well, we’ve made it through the first ten numbers of our historical tour through the Minnesota Vikings’ roster, and a lot of the numbers in the 90 range didn’t come with a whole lot of controversy. Let’s take a quick look back at which players are now a part of our all-time numerical roster.
#90 - Fred Evans, DT
#91 - Ray Edwards, DE
#92 - Tom Johnson, DT
#93 - John Randle, DT
#94 - Pat Williams, DT
#95 - Fernando Smith, DE
#96 - Brian Robison, DE
#97 - Everson Griffen, DE
#98 - Linval Joseph, DT
#99 - Danielle Hunter, DE
Not surprisingly, there are a lot of relatively recent names on this portion of the list. Part of that probably has to do with recency bias, which is to be expected, I suppose. The other part of it is that the majority of players that have worn these numbers throughout team history have been a bit underwhelming.
There are a couple of these that I disagree with, notably Everson Griffen over Henry Thomas and Danielle Hunter over Al Noga (at least as things stand right now), but they got the majority of the votes, so there they are.
We’ll be moving on to the 80s here shortly.
