Happy Vikings football Thorsday, everyone!

Real live Vikings football is finally here! I can't believe we survived the off-season, but we finally made it. Whew.

So, what are we looking for tonight? For me, first and foremost, I'm hoping for no injuries. Besides that, I'll be watching the interior of the offensive line, there are still some battles to watch there. Boone has his spot locked up, but it's still a battle for the other two spots. Elflein, Easton, Berger, and Isodora are all in the mix, and it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Another interesting position will be the 3rd linebacker spot (WLB), I really don't know what to expect here, so I'll be looking for someone to stand out and try to move to the front of the pack.

The wide receivers will be fun to watch, I expect a LOT from Treadwell, and it's his time to shine and prove he was worth the first round selection last year. Floyd has also looked like a stud in training camp, so look for some plays from him.

I'll also be keeping a close eye on the tight ends. Morgan has looked good in camp this year, and looks to fill that blocking TE role and make some plays as the TE2. There were high hopes for Hodges coming out of the draft, but he hasn't made a splash in training camp yet, while Kyle Carter has turned some heads, it'll be interesting to see who makes the final 53 in a few weeks.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Luft Krigare tells us the news about some tailgating spots being taken from the fans. I'll save most of my opinion on this for the comments, but this is a chicken s*** move by some of the spineless weasles who hold power in the city. They hate tailgating, because they hate fun, but had to make it look like they were going to allow it to get the stadium bill passed, Now they're basically using a backdoor way (which has been their intention all along) to go back on their word. This is why people are becoming so disenfranchised with politics.

Chris has all the coverage information for tonight’s preseason Vikings opener.

Eric was talking Vikings on the KFGO Morning Show.

Ted goes over what to look for in tonight's game against the Bills. Man, it feels good to say "tonight's game" again when talking about the Vikes, doesn't it?

Chris sat down with Buffalo Rumblings and asked Five Good Questions. He also answered Five Good questions.

In Minnesota Vikings by the Numbers, Chris recapped the 30s, and looked at number 29.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Number 188: Demanding Excellence.

Vikings news from other sources:

Two brothers will be facing off tonight (not really, they both play WR) in the Vikes-Bills matchup, per ESPN. Cayleb Jones will be on our side, while his brother Zay will be over on the Bills’ side.

Over at Vikings.com, Vikings players, both current and long retired, share memories from Mankato, from Lindsey Young. For videos, Wobby and Paul Allen share their thoughts on tonight’s game, Coach Zimmer was wired for sound in Saturday’s practice, and lots more in the media vault.

News from around the NFL:

CBS Sports has scores from all the preseason games played so far.

We come to our media selection.

Tuesday evening, the world lost a great musician in Glen Campbell. We'll play one of his, this one is from a Clint Eastwood movie (love this show) in which Campbell also played a role.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion

-No feeding of the trolls

-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must

-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer

-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver & onions.
