We are rapidly approaching the 2017 NFL preseason opener for your Minnesota Vikings, as they will be making the trip to upstate New York to take on the Buffalo Bills. If you want to watch or listen to all of the action, we have all of the ways that you can do that right here.
Television Info
This is the first of three Vikings’ preseason games that will be broadcast on KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities. For those of you that are outside the Twin Cities, there are plenty of other local affiliates that are going to be showing this one as well. Here’s the list, courtesy of the folks from 506 Sports.
- WDIO (ABC/10-13 - Duluth)
- KTTC (CW/10.2 - Rochester MN)
- KEYC (FOX/12.2 - Mankato MN)
- KVRR (FOX/15 - Fargo ND)
- KNDX (FOX/26 - Bismarck ND)
- KXND (FOX/24 - Minot ND)
- KSFY (CW/13.2 - Sioux Falls SD)
- KGAN (CBS/2 - Cedar Rapids IA)
- KCCI (MeTV/8.2 - Des Moines IA)
- KPTH (FOX/44 - Sioux City IA)
- KGCW (CW/23 - Quad Cities)
- WKBT (CBS/8 - La Crosse WI)
- KETV (MeTV/7.2 - Omaha)
If you’re closer to Buffalo, there are a couple of stations there that will be showing the Bills’ version of preseason coverage. Here are those stations:
- WKBW (ABC/7 - Buffalo)
- WHAM (ABC/13 - Rochester)
- WTVH (CBS/5 - Syracuse)
Yes, Rochester does have a station named after George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. Wake me up before you go-go, indeed.
Radio Info
Once again, the play-by-play duties on the radio side of things will be handled by Paul Allen and Pete Bercich on the Vikings Radio Network. Check your local affiliate to see if they’ll be airing this week’s contest.
If you have the luxury of satellite radio, this game will be on Sirius Channel 138. If you have an XM Radio, the feed from the Bills side will be on XM Channel 88. As always, XM will only have the home team feed for each game. If you have the SiriusXM App, the Vikings’ permanent home there is on Channel 818.
Referee Info
The head referee for this evening’s game will be Terry McAulay. The last time the Vikings saw McAulay, he was the head official for their season-ending victory over the Chicago Bears to close out the 2016 regular season.
Weather Info
Things could potentially get a little messy for this one. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM Central time, and the good folks from Weather Underground are showing a chance of thunderstorms rolling through the Buffalo area about an hour after that.
Streaming Info
There are a couple of legal means for streaming tonight’s game, most notably via NFL Game Pass.
As far as other streams are concerned, do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread, not anywhere. Don't even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you're that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own. And feel free to not blame us for any ill effects your computer or device might suffer as a result.
That should be everything you need to keep track of all the action from Buffalo for the first Minnesota Vikings action we’ve seen in seven months. We will have the Game Thread up and running approximately half an hour before kickoff, and we hope that a lot of folks will take advantage of it!
