Trae Waynes Suffers Injury Against Bills

The third-year cornerback was complaining of shoulder pain

NFL: Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

We’re one quarter into the preseason for the Minnesota Vikings, and we already have our first injury update of the 2017 preseason.

Trae Waynes, who started at cornerback this evening opposite of Xavier Rhodes, left the Vikings’ preseason opener against the Buffalo Bills after just two plays. Vikings’ sideline reporter Ben Leber said that Waynes was complaining of shoulder pain as well as vomiting on the sideline. At this time, I’m not sure if. . .or how. . .those two things would be connected, but they took Waynes’ helmet and took him back to the locker room.

Waynes was replaced by veteran Terence Newman in the Vikings’ defense.

Based on what we’ve heard from camp, it appears that Waynes was finally going to get the chance to be the unquestioned starter in his third season. However, depending on the severity of his injury, he may have suffered a significant setback tonight.

Once we get more updates on Waynes’ condition, we will bring them to you here.
