We’re kicking off the second week of preseason!

Merry Monday, everyone!

It’s the start of another week, and better yet, the start of another week with some live NFL football. No arrests or anything of the type over the weekend for the good guys, so that’s a good thing.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris rolls through the 20s in Minnesota by the Numbers, he posted number 27, number 26 (a bit of a tough one there), and number 25.

Ted (and the DN) bid farewell to Mankato.

Eric did another training camp evaluation, this time looking at the defense and special teams.

Ted posted a Stock Market Report for Thursday’s game.

Chris shared the bad news that Bishop Sankey was diagnosed with a torn ACL. His season is over. You hate to see someone get hurt, but it really stinks when it happens in a preseason game. All the best to Bishop as he recovers and hopefully gets another shot to compete for a spot.

Wludford has notes from the first preseason game.

Saxyprince puts the training camp spotlight on Eric Kendricks.

The team has signed Bronson Hill to replace Bishop Sankey, per Chris.

The Vikings are setting a new standard with the flurry of recent contract extensions.

Vikings news from other sources:

ESPN1500 says there’s no reason to panic over the O-line after just one preseason game.

From Vikings.com, there are highlights of Saturday’s practice, Mike Zimmer addressed the media after practice that day, as did Pat Shurmur. There are lots of other interviews and videos in the media vault.

Around the rest of the NFL:

We hear lots of stories of athletes who make unwise decisions with their money. Here’s a story about a player who’s making brilliant financial decisions during his NFL career, and he credits a book with inspiring him to do so (it’s a great book, too), from CNBC.com.

From ESPN, Ezekiel Elliot has been suspended for 6 games for violating the personal conduct policy (this policy is the catch-all they use for "stuff", kinda like the "all other duties as assigned" on a job description). The league has been conducting an investigation for over a year after allegations of domestic violence were made by Elliot's former girlfriend (or whatever you call it, seems weird to say girlfriend or boyfriend when talking about adults). The city's DA didn't pursue charges, but the league felt there was sufficient evidence to warrant a suspension.

CBS Sports has all the latest scores and highlights from preseason week one.

We come to our media selection.

Here’s another from Charlie Parr, enjoy.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion

-No feeding of the trolls

-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must

-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer

-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver & onions.
