Who is Bucky Hodges

Thad Chesley

Temuchin “Bucky” Hodges is the newest Vikings player to wear number 84. It is a special number that only a few have worn, but none as impactful as Randy Moss. I caught up with Hodges to understand where he feels his development is in his rookie season.

Underneath the helmet, and behind the jerseys are people, but who is Bucky Hodges according to Bucky Hodges. “Bucky Hodges is a guy who is going to put it on the line every play. He loves to win, and he’s going to show up for the Vikings.” During the interview, Hodges had a grin on his face, a sway to his body, and speech that resembled someone with swagger.

All of this won’t matter if it does not translate to the field. Hodges comes from a Virginia Tech program that featured him as a wide receiver. Hodges now moves back to tight end and even he admits he still has a ways to go. “I am just taking things day by day, I am still very raw at the tight end position, and I have a lot to learn.”

Hodges might only be the Vikings third tight end, but if he can refine his technique, he can have a bigger role with the Vikings. He looks up to the veterans for support, “Kyle Rudolph is someone I look up to, he’s been very successful, and his work ethic, and his technique is something I admire.” With Hodges athletic profile, he and Rudolph can become an important one-two punch for the Vikings. Temuchin “Bucky” Hodges might only be a 6th round pick, but he could become a very important player for the Vikings in the future.
