Here are the ground rules for the Game Threads:
-Thou shalt not link illegal feeds of today's game, or I shall kick thy arse to the curb until the game is over. Do not promote then, do not mention them, do not even hint at them. Thou hast been warned.
-Thou shalt make an attempt to keep the swearing to a minimum. Understandable that it will slip occasionally, but do try to limit it. If you really feel the need to curse, use the spoiler tags to keep it covered up. We'll get the sentiment.
-Thou shalt not feed the trolls. Rather, thou shall simply point them out, and they shall be banished to the fires of Mordor. Or Wisconsin. Whichever we feel is more harsh at the time.
-Thou shalt not engage in racist, sexist, or other such insulting rhetoric. Somebody disagreeing with you does not make them racist or sexist. It means they disagree with you. Talk it out like adults.
-Thou shalt not bait the fans of other teams into trolling.
-Basically, thou shalt not be a jackwagon in the game thread.
For the second week in a row, and the final time until Week 2 of the regular season, the Minnesota Vikings take to the road for NFL action. This week, it's the second game of the preseason as the purple take on the Seattle Seahawks. This is the only NFL exhibition game of the day, so hopefully the Vikings can put on a decent showing when there are plenty of eyes upon them.
So, what are we looking for tonight?
1) No injuries - Hey, this is still the preseason, so this is by far the most important thing.
2) Let's get the ball past. . .I don't know. . .midfield - The #1 offense didn't look particularly impressive last week against Buffalo, producing three punts on three drives. The Vikings might be without both Riley Reiff and Alex Boone on the offensive line this evening, so we'll have to see if their replacements can do a better job of opening things up in the run game and allowing Sam Bradford to take some shots down the field.
3) Who will take the tackle job? - There aren't many spots on the Vikings' defense that might be considered "up for grabs," but the opportunity to start at defensive tackle next to Linval Joseph is one of them. Sebastian Thunderbucket Tom Johnson appears to be the leader in the clubhouse right now, but guys like Datone Jones and rookie Jaleel Johnson could still play their way into the discussion, too. It's incumbent on one of those players to seize their opportunity starting this evening.
This one's got a late start for those of you watching from back in God's country (one of the few advantages to being on the West Coast). We hope that you'll be able to track all the action with us this evening from Seattle and hope that our favorite team escapes from this one unscathed.
SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
