Vikings at Seahawks: Several Starters Sitting For Minnesota

That means opportunities for others

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Buffalo Bills Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

We’re about an hour away from kickoff in Seattle for the second preseason game of the year for the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks. The Vikings will have several starters watching tonight’s game from the sidelines because of injuries. Here’s the full list of players not expected to play this evening:

G Alex Boone

LB Kentrell Brothers

RB Latavius Murray

OT Riley Reiff

S Andrew Sendejo

WR Laquon Treadwell

CB Trae Waynes

These players taking a seat for the evening will open up some opportunities for other players, and some younger guys are going to get a long look this evening. Terence Newman will start for Waynes at corner, but we know what we’re getting with Newman for the most part. Here are some of the other changes in the starting lineup.

  • Rashod Hill will start again at left tackle, with Nick Easton sliding over to left guard and rookie Pat Elflein getting the start at center. This could be big for Elflein, who is still battling Easton for the starting spot in the pivot.
  • Dalvin Cook will start again at running back, as expected.
  • Rookie linebacker Ben Gedeon is listed as a starter for tonight’s game. Gedeon, a fourth-round pick of the Vikings, is in the mix for the weakside linebacker spot that Chad Greenway held down for the past few seasons.
  • Antone Exum, who has gotten some positive press in the preseason thus far, will get the start at safety.

So there you have it, folks. We’ll have the Open Thread for this one coming up for you at 8:30 PM Central time.
