We’re gearing up for the weekend and some Vikings football!

Joey Browner

Happy thirsty Thorsday, everyone!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Zim Tzu is back! And he's tired of the preseason, from Ted. I can't decide whether my favorite part of the football week (besides, you know, football) is Zim Tzu or the SMR.

We're just over the two week mark 'til real football. Chris posted #15 in Minnesota Vikings by the Numbers.

Arif posted Norse Code Podcast Episode 190: Flashes of Decency.

Chris shared ESPN’s perfect roster, and three players from our favorite team made the list.

Vikings news from other sources:

From the Vikings.com Media Vault, Coach Zimmer addressed the media yesterday, as did Sam Bradford, Alex Boone says the sky’s the limit, Adam Thielen talks about learning the slot WR role, and Linval Joseph thinks thinks the D-line can be the best in the NFL. I’m not going to argue with him on that........or anything else.

According to Football Outsiders and shared by ESPN (it’s behind their paywall, so I didn’t bother linking it), Case Keenum was among the league’s least accurate passers last year. That was probably just Jeff Fisher’s mediocrity rubbing off on him (since his teammate and fellow QB was actually ranked lower than him, that may hold some truth). Hopefully it wore off when he got to Minny.

Around the rest of the NFL:

Donald Penn ended his holdout and reported for practice, per NFL.com.

From the Sporting News, the Browns are reportedly seeking a trade for Brock Osweiler. Does he still get his name on the back of that jersey with all the other failed Browns QBs? I’m not sure how that works.

Also from the Sporting News, Blake Bortles has been benched in Jacksonville after struggling for.......well.....pretty much his whole career, but the final straw was this year’s abysmal preseason.

We come to our media selection.

Thanks to Supa for mentioning this one yesterday, this is also one of my top Vikings games of my lifetime. Like the 1987 Vikings-49ers playoff game we played yesterday, not many expected the purple and gold to have a chance in this one. I wish I could have been at Lambeau to see this one.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer\
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the chitlins.
