Well, folks, it’s Friday night, and with the all-important third preseason game just a little less than 48 hours away, we’ve found something interesting to talk about through the miracle of social media.
Teddy Bridgewater has an Instagram account, like so many other people do. Tonight, however, he’s deleted all of his previous Instagram posts with the exception of one that he posted earlier today. The post is open to interpretation, to say the least.
OMG WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?
For those of you that are on other forms of social media, there was a rumor. . .cryptic and not really verified. . .that Bridgewater had been cleared by physicians to practice last week. That rumor started circulating late on Sunday, and now that we’ve reached late on Friday, we still haven’t officially heard anything to that effect. As it stands now, Bridgewater is still on the Physically Unable to Perform List.
However, Bridgewater did caption the photo with the words “Fresh Start - The light at the end of the tunnel does exist.” That, ladies and gentlemen, leads this writer to believe that we might be seeing Bridgewater come off of that list much sooner than just about anybody might have anticipated.
This Wednesday, the day before the team’s preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins at U.S. Bank Stadium, will mark one year to the day that Bridgewater suffered his injury. It’s also just days before the deadline that will determine whether or not Bridgewater starts the season on the Physically Unable to Perform List, which would cause him to miss the first six games of the year (and, potentially, open up a Pandora’s Box of contract arguments to deal with).
Now, to be clear. . .at this point, if Bridgewater comes off of the PUP List, he’s the backup to Sam Bradford. As talented as Teddy is, the team isn’t going to leapfrog him over Bradford when he hasn’t taken a snap, real or otherwise, in a full calendar year. That may anger the Teddy Truthers out there. . .and that’s a crowd that I consider myself a part of. . .but it’s true. It would be reckless and irresponsible of the team to do that. Would it be a possibility if they had they done it earlier in camp? Sure, I suppose. But they didn’t, so here we are.
If Bridgewater does come off of the PUP List in time for the start of the regular season, though. . .man. I can guarantee you that the TAEKS will be HAWT and that both blood and tears will likely be shed in the comments section. Which means that’s probably just what will happen, because Vikings.
Just one more thing for us to keep an eye on this weekend leading up to the Vikings’ first appearance at U.S. Bank Stadium since New Year’s Day.
