Hey, it's the week where we'll get to see real-ish Vikings football

Merry pre-season kickoff week Monday, everyone!

We FINALLY get to see some Vikings football this week. I'm sure we all have something in particular we hope to see (or not see) from our team, but I think everyone can agree that we hope to see NO INJURIES. Thankfully, we don't have to play the Browns and their psychopath, cheap-shot encouraging, scumbag DC, Gregggggggggg Williams......yet. That should reduce the guys' odds of being injured considerably. I still have no clue why he's in the NFL.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Chris is down to number 34 in Minnesota Vikings by the Numbers. The guy who looks to win this is a pleasant surprise to Vikings fans, considering most folks' opinions of him 2 years ago (myself included). It's cool to see Sendejo blossoming into a pretty good safety, pleasant surprises are good. Chirs also posted number 33, number 32, and number 31.

Wludford asks if the Vikings defense is the best in the NFL, and also looks at what we should expect from Pat Shurmur.

Ifeadi Odenigbo is making his case to play in the NFL, per Eric.

The team locked up another key piece of their defense, as they agreed to an extension with Linval Joseph.

From Chris, Rashod Hill was injured in Saturday's practice, but his agent reported that he's fine after all. Good news, Hill's been looking good in camp, and we all know how important O linemen are.

Wludford projects the Vikings' cuts, and the depth chart.

Vikings news from other sources:

Wobby opened the Monday Morning Mailbag. Here are some highlights from Saturday's practice, and a lot of interviews and other videos in the media vault.

News from around the rest of the NFL:

The Dolphins signed QB Jay Cutler to replace the injured Ryan Tannehill, per NFL.com.

The NFL has suspended Falcons CB Jalen Collins for 10 games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, per NFL.com. This is the second time Collins has been in violation of the policy, he also served a four-game suspension last year.

Also from NFL.com, Brock Osweiler will be starting the Browns' preseason opener.

We come to our media selection.

I got nothing, so I'll just post a Monday song, this is the first one I thought of. The Bangles crossed my mind, too.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion

-No feeding of the trolls

-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must

-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer

-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver & onions.
