Vikings activate Latavius Murray from PUP List

The running back will have his first practice with the Vikings on Monday afternoon.

Latavius Murray will finally take the field as a Viking on Monday.

Outside of Teddy Bridgewater and Sharrif Floyd, whose injuries are long-term, there have been three Vikings that most fans have been not-so-patiently waiting to return to action: Riley Reiff, Laquon Treadwell, and Latavius Murray. Reiff hurt his back on the very first day of practice and hasn’t returned. Treadwell hurt his hamstring a week ago (either running routes or getting into a scuffle with Antone Exum, depending on who you believe). Meanwhile, Murray has yet to see any action as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. He had ankle surgery in the offseason that caused him to miss all of OTAs and all of Training Camp up to this point.

Thankfully—and somewhat surprisingly—that will change today.

The Vikings announced that Murray will be activated from the PUP list and will practice in Mankato on Monday afternoon:

Of the three players that have been sitting over the past week, it was generally believed that Murray was still the furthest away, but obviously that was not the case. It’s good that Murray is getting back at practice now, because it appears that Dalvin Cook was running unopposed for the first team running back spot until now.

It remains to be seen how carries and snaps will be divvied up for Thursday’s game at Buffalo. Stay tuned for more updates from the final two days of Vikings Training Camp in Mankato.
