Merry Tuesday, everyone!

Hey, we’re two days away from our first Vikings football game since January (I was at that one!). It’s been a long wait, but the wait is nearly over.

Oh hey, I’m sure most of you saw where Matt Kalil kinda threw a little shade at the Vikings & their coaching staff. He said something to the effect that “this is the first time that his coaches have demanded excellence”. Yeah yeah, keep yappin’. If getting paid millions to play at the highest level isn’t enough to motivate you (and judging by your performance, it wasn’t), then the problem isn’t the team, buddy. First round talent, my a**. I hope he gives up 14 sacks in his first game & gets replaced by an undrafted free agent.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Saxyprince has some takeaways from Vikings training camp.

The team released their first depth chart for the 2017 season, per Chris.

From Eric, the Vikings activated Latavius Murray from the PUP list.

In even better news, Reilly Reiff returned to practice yesterday. Take that, Jobu.

Skelly10 has the latest update from Vikings training camp.

Vikings news from other sources:

From PFT, Vikings tackle Tom Johnson says they’re the best defense in the NFL. I won’t argue.

Land Grant Holy Land, SB Nation’s Ohio State site, sees Pat Elflein making waves in Minnesota.

Vikings.com has a preview of Thursday’s Vikings-Bills matchup. They also have highlights from yesterday’s practice, as well as lots of interviews & other video over at the media vault.

News from around the rest of the league:

Branden Albert told the Jaguars that he wants to return to football just a week or so after making a surprise retirement announcement, per NFL.com. Maybe he thought it was April fools day or something.

Heading in the other direction, Brandon Flowers has announced that he IS retiring, also at NFL.com.

From CBS Sports, Cris Carter said on FS1’s ‘Undisputed’ that he’d be shocked if Zeke Elliot isn’t handed a suspension based on evidence of domestic assault. It all comes down to where Goodell’s wheel of punishment lands, so you never know.

A little laughter to end our news stories. From the Sporting News, Johnny Manziel said he’s interested in a career in coaching if his playing career doesn’t go anywhere.

We come to our media selection.

Many thanks to southparkskolman for suggesting today's selection, here's some Trampled by Turtles to kick off your Tuesday.

We all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion

-No feeding of the trolls

-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door

-Keep vulgar language to a minimum, using spoiler tags if you must

-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer

-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the liver & onions.
