Possible future Vikings Pt 2

Yes Guys I'm back for my 2nd installment on current CFB players who might grace our team in the near future. If you read my previous FP a few weeks ago I bet the farm and went all in on a QB in either Josh Allen or Josh Rosen. Allen hasn't lived up to the drfat hype after a couple lackluster performances and as of today his draft stock continues to fall. He's still going to be a 1st round pick because of teams wanting to find a franchise QB. Other QB's in this class include

QB

Josh Rosen

Sam Darnold

Lamar Jackson

Jake Browning

Luke Faulk

Baker Mayfield

Mason Rudolph

Another position I concentrated o last time was the OL and historically our GM has been terrible at bringing in quality OL talent. I selected Martez Ivey with boh of my drafts to help build a OL that has needed a upgrade for years. Now sure Remmers and Reiff held up pretty well against the New Orleans "defense" which has been terrible in recent years so my optimism is still lacking in this team until we start rolling off some serious wins and not do a repeat of last year and tank as the year went on. The best OL in the draft are as follows

OT

Mike McGlinchey

Trey Adams

Orlando Brown

Connor Williams

Martinas Rankin

OG

Martez Ivey

Billy Price

Quenton Nelson

Frank Ragnow

Will Hernendaz

With us drafting Elfein last year I think we have solidified the C position for the next decade as Elfein IMO was the best interior OL in the draft. Berger and Remmers are big question marks for me moving forward and will have to be addressed with some influx of talent soon.

Secondary

I know this will have a few of you thinking " why am I going CB and I have one word answer "depth". Newman is finally showing his age and I think is going to be a liability as the year goes on. I loved the Trumaine Brock pick up because of the serious concern again of depth issues behind Rhodes Waynes and Alexander. Safety as well is a issue for me Sendejo is a solid starter but not a playermaker and I'm concerned about now how many more good years are we going to get out of Smith. i'm not impressed with the development of Kearse even though I was really high on him a few years ago when we drafted him . Its a loaded CB and S group this year

S

Derwin James

Ronnie Harrison

Mikah Fitzpatrick

Marcus Allen

Damon Webb

Jamar Summers

CB

Tavarus McFadden

Jaire Alexander

Inman Marshall

Kevin Tolliver

Jordan Thomas

Duke Dawson

Anthony Averett

Denzel Ward

So those are my Positions of need, although during the draft its hard to pass on talented players if they fall to you, in case Mackenzie Alexander a few years ago. Lets go to my 2nd draft of the year and who we could see in Purple in 2018. I'm going to stick with my prediction of a 6 to 8 win season and that will put us in that 11-16 range

1st round - Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville- O boy could you imagine a offense with Jackson under center or a read option game with him and Cook in the backfield? Jackson has to show he take work out of a pro style offense and hit his guys in stride. This year I've seen improved accuracy from Jackson but is still a work in progress. I think you can bring back Bradford on a 2 year deal but you have to solidify the QB position moving forward and give this team a identity. Bradford and Bridgewater have too many question marks with injuries to rely on them long term. Rick draft a QB this is what this team is truly missing.

2nd round, Martez Ivey, G/T, Florida- I stick here with the big man from Florida as I still love the versatility to play G or T in the league. Ivey is back at LT this season but think he will kick inside and be a G in the NFL. The NFL is going more and more to OL that has the ability to pull and get out in front and Ivey has some of the quickest feet in the business. Able to get off his blocks and get to the 2nd level Ivey along with Elfein will be building blocks on a new and athletic OL the Vikings have needed for years

3rd round - Daylon Mack, DT, Texas A&M- Mack is exactly that in the middle of that A&M DL a mack truck and a load at 335 lbs. With Floyd and ToM Johnson likely on the way out after this season the strength of this team needs to continue to be the DL. Keeping Tashawn Bower on the active roster along with Jaleel Johnson shows the Vikings want to have a deep rotation of quality DL. With the injury concerns for Floyd and Jhnson starting to show his agae this is a steal at this point in the draft if Mack can live up to his #1 DT ranking when he went to Texas A&M as a freshman

4th round - Kamryn Pettaway, FB/RB, Auburn- A power back by trade this could be another steal on offense if Pettaway falls all the eay to the 4th round. Murray is not going to be back with the team next season at his cap hit and limited role with the emergence of Dalvin Cook. Pettaway gives you a battering ram in short yardage situations or can come in as well as a FB who can punish add a power element to the elusivness of Cook.

5th round- Andre Chachere, CB, San Jose St- Good rotational player in the secondary and help with he retirement of Newman.

6th round- Daniel Carlson, K, Auburn- Sorry Forbath your not back with the team next year, Carlson is the best K in CFB, good power and accuracy

Well that's it guys feel free to leave your comments below, and enjoy the game today in Pittsburgh
