The latest roster move for the Minnesota Vikings is one that isn’t terribly surprising, as they needed to cut at least one quarterback in their quest to get down to 53.
No surprise: #Vikings will be waiving former #Gophers QB Mitch Leidner. Practice squad is up in the air. No assurances given.

According to Darren Wolfson of KSTP in Minneapolis, the Vikings have waived quarterback Mitch Leidner.
Leidner was signed by the team prior to the third preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers, but did not see action until the second half of Thursday’s preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins. He actually acquitted himself fairly well against Miami. . .better than this writer expected, anyway. . .but there was really never any chance the Vikings were going to keep him. According to Wolfson, however, it sounds like there’s a chance he sticks on the practice squad.
We still have a ton of moves that Rick Spielman and company need to make prior to the 3:00 PM Central deadline to get down to 53 players. We’ll be tracking everything on our Roster Cut Tracker, so be sure to keep it bookmarked and refresh frequently to keep yourself up to date.
