Vikings’ Everson Griffen Calls Out Lions’ Greg Robinson

Griffen doesn't hold back as he calls Robinson, “lazy.”

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Minnesota Vikings Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen told us what he really thinks about Detroit Lions left tackle Greg Robinson. And it wasn’t very Minnesota nice.

"To be quite honest, (he's) kind of lazy," Griffen said to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. "He's lazy. He gets beat on the inside. I think the biggest thing is he just has to compete more. But yeah, he's pretty lazy. I think the rest of the offensive line, they do pretty well, but to me he's kind of lazy."

Pretty strong words from Griffen especially since the two will meet this Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium. But would Griffen be wrong? Robinson has been flagged 46 times since the start of 2014 making him the most penalized amongst all offensive and defensive players. Of those 46 penalties, 30 were for offensive holding according to ESPN’s Courtney Cornin.

While those numbers are nothing to write home about, calling him lazy is a stretch. But he does need to work harder and put in extra hours before he plays against Griffen and the Vikings’ defense. According to ESPN’s stats and info Griffen has four sacks this season already, so needless to say Griffen is on a roll.

Trash talking is always fun and games when you have the upper hand, and with those numbers Griffen will be in control this Sunday.
