Daily Norseman Pick ‘Em and Survivor Leagues Coming Wednesday

Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

You know, with all the lead up to the start of the 2017 NFL season, I thought that I had forgotten to do something and I wasn’t sure what it was. But, I eventually figured it out.

I haven’t set up our annual Pick ‘Em and Survivor pools for this season. So, with the first game a little less than 48 hours away, it’s probably about time that I do that.

So, there will be a post scheduled to go up with all of the information on how to enter either or both of those pools at noon Central time on Wednesday. They will both be on the Yahoo! platform, as they’ve been in past years, so if you don’t already have an account on there, be sure to get one created if you want to partake.

For the pick ‘em league, we’re going to do the same thing we’ve done for the past few years and use Yahoo!’s “Confidence Points” system. For those that haven’t done it before, you assign a point value to each game in a given week depending on how likely you think you are to get that one right. If you’re dead certain of your pick in one game, you would give it a high point value, and likewise if you’re a little iffy you would give it fewer points.

We will drop your lowest scoring week, so if you miss a week for whatever reason and end up with a zero, that will be dropped. If you get your picks in every week, you’ll just lose your lowest total.

For the Survivor League, it’s the same as it ever was. Each week, you get to pick one team that you think is a lock to win. If you’re correct, you move on to the next week, but you don’t get to use that team again. If you’re wrong. . .well, you’re out. Whoever lasts the longest is the winner. Simple enough.

Once again, tomorrow at noon Central time, there will be a post that goes up on the front page with links, League ID numbers, and entry passwords for both the Pick ‘Em and Survivor pools. That will give everyone the opportunity to jump in. Things will be on a first come, first serve basis, and unless Yahoo! has changed things, each one will top out at 100 entrants. (If someone else wants to start a supplemental one after the first one fills up, that’s fine.)

So, if you want to jump into any of these leagues with your fellow Minnesota Vikings fans, be sure that you’re ready tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone there, and be ready to get your picks in. . .kickoff is on Thursday, after all.
