With the Minnesota Vikings activating quarterback Sam Bradford to the 53-man roster on Saturday, there has been some speculation as to how the Vikings would handle their quarterback depth chart for Sunday’s Divisional Playoff game against the New Orleans Saints. Chris Mortensen of ESPN apparently has the answer.
Unless something happens in pregame, Sam Bradford expected to be the No. 2 QB behind Case Keenum. Mike Zimmer has never had 3 QBs active so Teddy Bridgewater is aware of possibility he could be inactive.

According to Mortensen, the newly-activated Bradford will not only be in uniform today, but will serve as the backup to Case Keenum. As Mortensen points out, the Vikings have never had three quarterbacks “up” in the Mike Zimmer era, so it would not be a surprise to see Teddy Bridgewater (and fourth-string quarterback Kyle Sloter) inactive for Sunday’s contest.
I know that the emotional attachment to Bridgewater is strong for a lot of folks, but this really is the right move, in my opinion. While Bridgewater did get a few snaps in the victory over Cincinnati back in Week 15, Bradford has shown that he has command of the offense when he’s healthy and able to go. If something should happen to Keenum, it would be beneficial to the Vikings to have Bradford to plug into the lineup instead of Bridgewater.
We’ll see what the Vikings officially do when the inactive lists come out at around 2:00 PM Central, but the early report for now is that the Vikings will roll with Keenum and Bradford at quarterback today.
