It’s gonna be a long wait ‘til the next game, isn’t it?

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Man, I thought I’d be able to be more patient than this, but I’m already itching to see some playoff football. These years are why being a fan is fun. Those who don’t get into sports wonder why we suffer through crap years & still stick up for our team, well it’s for years like this. Our team has a legit shot to go all the way, and the playoffs are about to start. January 14 can’t get here soon enough.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

Randy Moss and Steve Hutchinson are both finalists in this year’s hall-of-fame voting, per Chris.

Wludford tells us why the Vikings are a Super Bowl favorite.

Chris has the latest Minnesota Vikings Power Rankings Roundup.

Two more teams have requested to interview Pat Shurmur for their vacant head coaching positions, per Chris, and one of them is a division rival.

Latavius Murry has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week, per Chris.

Vikes news from around the web:

From ESPN, Sam Bradford was back at practice yesterday.

From Vikings.com, see a clip showing why the Vikings home field advantage is second to none, there’s a cool story on Eric Kendricks, some of his off-field contributions and why it’s important to him, and there’s lots more to sift through in the media vault.

News from around the rest of the league:

Okay, this one surprised me, Marvin Lewis will stay with the Bengals, per NFL.com. Lewis signed a two-year contract that will keep him with the team through 2019.

CBS Sports reported that the Broncos have an eye on Kirk Cousins.

Keep up with all the latest coaching moves with this coaching tracker from NFL.com.

We come to today’s media selection.

I haven’t played much of this guy on here, and that’s wrong. This is a good ‘en.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn't a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it's sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don't forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese
