Well, we’ve nearly made it through week one of our two week Vikings football drought.

Happy Thirsty Thorsday, everyone!

Well, we’re crawling through week one of the playoffs (or the bye week, if you’re the Vikings :) ), and we’re ~ 11 days away from Vikings football.

Anyone doing anything on the smoker this weekend? I had a prime rib on Sunday (it was absolutely amazing, I’ll remember to get pictures next time), and I’m thinking I should do something on the smoker this weekend, I’m just not sure what to put on there yet.

Maybe I’ll do chili in the crock pot instead, that sounds pretty yummy. too. I always use a pound of hamburger & a pound of ground pork, diced maters, kidney beans (light red and dark red), some homemade salsa, jalapenos, serranos, onions (sauteed) & a little celery & peppers, then seasoning (lots); slow cook for 10+ hours, eat, done.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

From skelly10, Sam Bradford was a full participant at practice on Wednesday. Isn’t it crazy? 4 years ago, the Vikings had less than zero options at quarterback (yes, that’s possible, don’t try to correct me). Fast forward to now, and we have three who can get the job done.

The Vikings trainers were named the Staff of the Year, per skelly10.

What a difference a year makes, from Ted. You ain’t-a-kiddin’, Ted.

From Chris, the Vikings are expected to sign Brandon Zylstra to a futures contract.
update from the Strib, they have signed him to a futures contract.

The Chicago Bears have requested permission to interview George Edwards, also from Chris.

Vikings news from other sources:

From, hear Sam Bradford talk about the long comeback, Wobby opens the pick-6 mailbag, and there’s a lot more cool stuff to sift through in the media vault.

Even though they’d technically be the visiting team, the Vikings would still be afforded the luxuries of home-field-advantage, should they make the Super Bowl, per the Strib.

News from around the rest of the NFL:

According to the USA Today, NFL viewership dropped again in 2017, by an even steeper margin than it had last year.

We come to today’s media selection.

This describes my mental state as I impatiently await our next game.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, & try the head cheese
