One big surprise on the list for the Vikings

We are less than ninety minutes away from kickoff at MetLife Stadium, ladies and gentlemen, and that means that both the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Jets have released their lists of inactive players for today’s contest. Let’s take a look at who will be sitting out of this one for both sides. As always, we start with the visiting team.

Minnesota Vikings

  • RB Dalvin Cook
  • LB Devante Downs
  • DE Everson Griffen
  • DT Linval Joseph
  • OT Riley Reiff
  • S Andrew Sendejo
  • QB Kyle Sloter

A big surprise on the inactive list for the Vikings, as the team has made Linval Joseph inactive for today’s contest with the injuries he’s been dealing with over the past week. Jaleel Johnson will be making his first career NFL start in Joseph’s spot. Cook, Griffen, Reiff, and Sendejo were all declared out on Friday’s final injury report. Rashod Hill starts at left tackle once again with Brian O’Neill starting at right tackle, and George Iloka will get his second consecutive start in Sendejo’s spot.

And now, on to the home team.

New York Jets

  • WR Quincy Enunwa
  • DT Folorunso Fatukasi
  • CB Trumaine Johnson
  • CB Derrick Jones
  • S Marcus Maye
  • LB Kevin Pierre-Louis
  • CB Buster Skrine

The absence of Johnson and Skrine means that the Jets are without two of their top three cornerbacks in this one. They’re also without two of their top three wide receivers, as they released Terrelle Pryor on Saturday afternoon.

Those are the inactive lists for today’s contest, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll have the First Quarter Open Thread up and running at 11:00 AM Central.
