Minnesota Vikings’ defensive end Danielle Hunter entered the team’s Week 7 contest against the New York Jets having recorded at least one sack in each of the team’s first six games.
Although he garnered half a sack against Sam Darnold (a takedown that he shared with Jaleel Johnson), that was all he could muster, meaning that Hunter’s streak was snapped and. . .
BAH GAWD! THAT’S THE NFL’S MUSIC! WHAT IN THE HELL IS THE NFL DOING HERE, KING!?
Official stat change from the @NFL:

Q3, :14 Half Sack credited to MIN 99 D.Hunter. Removed Half Sack by MIN 27 J.Kearse@DHunt94_TX now is tied with Aaron Donald for the league lead with 8.0 sacks this season and has at least 1 sack in 7 consecutive games.
Yes, on Wednesday, the National Football League issued an official stat correction. In addition to the half-sack that Hunter shared with Jaleel Johnson, he also got credit for half of the sack that Jayron Kearse had of Darnold on the final play of the third quarter.
That means that Hunter did, in fact, pick up at least one sack on Sunday. . .two halves make a whole, after all. . .and so his streak is still alive.
The extra half-sack means that Hunter is now also tied for the NFL lead in sacks with Los Angeles Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Darnold.
Hopefully Hunter’s streak will continue in much more emphatic fashion on Sunday night when the Vikings play the New Orleans Saints. If Hunter picks up at least one sack on Sunday night, he will tie Everson Griffen’s mark from last season.
