Good Morning!
I hope you’re having a great work week and are looking forward to a weekend full of family, fun, bacon and beer. I was really looking forward to this Sunday’s game with the Saints until I realized I have to work, but that’s what the iPad and Direct TV Sunday Ticket are for, those times when just have to watch a game while tapping into the hospital wifi. While we’re waiting for the next Vikings game to start we’ll continue with our open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. With that, let’s do this.
Around the DN since our last thread:
We get an update from Ted about Dalvin Cook as he could be out until after the bye week.
Lucas has your Minnesota Vikings news and notes heading into week 8.
Vikings news from other sources:
From Revenge of the Birds (the SB Nation Arizona Cardinals site) they peek behind the E$PN paywall about the four letter network’s idea for a trade of Patrick Peterson to the Minnesota Vikings and it is not too bad.
From Vikings.com DE Everson Griffen addressed the media about his absence from the team....Welcome Back!
Head Coach Mike Zimmer on the plan for Griffen’s return, the red zone offense and dealing with the Saint’s high octane offense.
CB Holton Hill on working with Coach Terence Newman to prepare for Brees and his first NFL interception last week.
WR Brandon Zylstra on his reaction to his first NFL catch and progress as a player.
From 1500espn they ponder that in Minneapolis Miracle game, the Vikings learned no lead is safe against Brees, conversely no lead is safe over the Vikings either amirite?
League news:
From NFL.com Everson Griffen: Off-field issues “bigger than football.”
Raiders HC Jon Gruden: ‘Certainly, I don’t see us trading’ Derek Carr.
Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson aims to be with Cardinals ‘for years.’
Amari Cooper thrilled to get ‘fresh start’ with Cowboys.
NFL announces Week 15, 16 Saturday schedules.
We come to today’s media selection: Lynyrd Skynyrd-That Smell
Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
