Friday Open Thread

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning!

I’m getting home late from work so Mythical Words™ that no one reads up here will be limited so I can get to bed. From skimming the Thursday night TNF game thread it looks like everyone enjoyed the game. I’ve seen a few Bears fans drop by the Open Threads this week, Welcome Aboard to all of you. While we’re waiting for the next Vikings game to start we’ll continue with our Open Thread of news and links with beer recommendations, nap strategies, crock pot and smoker recipes and maybe some Vikings news and gouge sprinkled in. Have another cup of coffee and drop by for some fan wisdom and snark. With that, let’s do this.

Around the DN since our last thread:

The Front page writers have a spot where you can keep up with all the Vikings-Bears news.

Chris has the FanPulse results for Week 10: Confidence in the Vikings dips despite bye.

Dalvin Cook will have no restrictions on Sunday night, hope he’s back to the player we saw for the first four games last year.

Your Vikings injury report from Chris, Anthony Barr returns, Adam Thielen still limited.

From Windy City Gridiron: Five Questions with Daily Norseman: “Trubisky’s play reminds me of Christian Ponder.” FYI Jeff, we all really hate Sean Peyton.

Notebook: Dalvin Cook ‘hyped’ for Vikings playoff chase.

C Pat Elflein’s steady play helping boost Vikings rushing attack.

Presser points: Assessing possibilities for Abdullah, Cohen’s threats, Vikings self-scout.

League news:

From NFL.com Russell Wilson remained undefeated at home vs. Aaron Rodgers, guiding the Seahawks to a 27-24 win over the Packers.

We come to today’s media selection: Rush - Headlong flight

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-This isn’t a male version of The View, so leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open. Belly up & tie one on. Don’t forget to tip your waitress, try the venison chili and as always, Welcome Aboard and Skol Vikings!
